Welcome to Yearbook & Photojournalism Class!
These courses are designed to equip students with the skills necessary to produce the school yearbook! The year begins with discussions about planning the coverage for the school year. In addition to this, students learn about designing a unifying theme for the yearbook. During the first semester my students will study journalism which include ethics, layout and design techniques plus writing and copy editing. These courses provide students with practice in gathering and analyzing information, interviewing, note taking and photography and how to write great headlines and captions. Also, students will learn the planning and marketing (ad sales) strategies of the yearbook. Students will learn proofing techniques and work independently with photographers. At times, deadlines require that staff members work after school, on weekends, and holidays. In spite of the hard work, both Photojournalism and Yearbook students have the best task in the entire school. They will be in charge of recording the events that happen during the school year and then transforming them into memories that will last forever! |
